• To the Friendship Community:

We are happy to report that the start of our school year has been a successful one.  Our students, teachers, parents, and staff have adjusted quite nicely to our new protocols and policies and have begun to settle into a routine.  We realize that there will be adjustments made to our policies and procedures as the situation revolving around COVID-19 seems to be ever changing.

Our staff has experienced a few changes since the 2019-2020 school year.  We welcome Justine Aldridge and Sheeanna Milton to our elementary school teaching ranks.  Both have previous experience working in Friendship as long-term substitutes.  Mrs. Aldridge is teaching second grade and Miss Milton is working with our Pre-K students in the morning and with our elementary school students in Art in the afternoon.  We are happy and fortunate to have them join us in a full-time capacity.

As of this writing, we have held student council elections in the high school and middle school, Fall sports have begun, a successful picture day was held, and planning has begun on other events to be held over the next few months.

Just a reminder about a few of our new policies for this year, while in school students must adhere to social distancing guidelines (6 feet apart) and wear masks when they cannot maintain safe social distancing.  Our teachers will provide some time for mask breaks, especially for our younger students.  Breakfast is being delivered to classrooms first thing in the morning.  Students are eating lunch either in the cafeteria (limited number due to room capacity) as well as classrooms.

The key to making the rest of this school year a successful one will be the flexibility that is needed of all (teachers, students, parents, etc.).  We know that plans will change and must be adjusted as we go along.  The district promises to keep everyone informed and up to date about any changes to schedule, procedures, etc.  Despite all the challenges we face at the moment, we know that the 2020-2021 school year will be a successful one.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to the school if you have any questions (585-973-3311).  Stay safe and be well.
