Outstanding Teacher Webpages
We have another Outstanding Teacher Site, created by Mrs. Catherine D'Agostino, a High School English teacher (Grades 11 & 12) at the Dunkirk Central School District.
Mrs. D'Agostino has put together a teacher website that is very content rich and provides a great deal of useful information for her students. While everyone knows how hard it can be to learn Shakespeare - Mrs. D'Agostino makes it easy and fun by incorporating electronic scavenger hunts and blog pages which allow students to share ideas. One post poses the following question: "To be, or not to be, - that is the question: What do you think this means?" Students responded by submitting 23 comments in one day!
Mrs. D'Agostino has many other areas of interest on her website, such as Cool Tools, a page that includes links to a free assignment calculator and a research assistance site called Noodle Tools. Another area, titled Interactive Links, contains webcams and features a view of a real Falcons' nest high atop the Statler towers. FreeRice.com is featured as well and this site challenges visitors to correctly define words and win free rice. For every correct answer, 20 grains of rice are donated to the UN World Food program to help end worldwide hunger. Other pages include Web Resources, Classroom Policies, Search Engines for Research, Research Paper Step by Step Guide, Writing Introductions, Senior Lab Assignments, Research Paper Topics, School Island, and more!
Kudos to Mrs. D'Agostino for her outstanding work!
